35 years in prison for an innocent man
The story has gripped the headlines worldwide, and we can all only cringe in anxiety at the Kafka life journey of James Bain.
Mr. Bain will receive $50,000 for each year he was wrongly imprisoned for a total of $1.7 million, under Florida law.
This is the worst nightmare imaginable. Let us hope and pray that we as a society focus the time, energy and effort to improve the quality of our criminal justice system.
The Torah says better one hundred guilty go free than one innocent man put to death. It is worthy of deep reflection that the rabbis of old wrote this so long ago.
We pray that Mr. Bain can find a profoundly meaningful level of spiritual and emotional joy in his new life. He deserves that and so much more.
Thank you to the Innocent Project for your moral stand, hard work and deep sense of moral justice.
