Dear Lord, why?

April 5, 2010

The news in our community that three young people died and one young woman is at Harborview from a terrible weekend car crash in Ballard is devastating.

Our heart goes out to the families who weep in pain and who need family, friends and community support now more than ever in their lives.

Kellen Jones, Spenser Millard and Mike Turner died Sunday. An unnamed teenage girl remains in serious condition.

As the father of four young children, I can hardly contain my grief and terrible discomfort at this tragedy. My heart goes out to the families and to our community during this difficult time.

To lose a child raises one of the great moral questions in all of life: Dear Lord, why?

Your partner in service,

Reuven.

    Why?

Drunken driving, speeding, drugs, previous DUI, no insurance, hit and run….add driving a muscle car down Market St at 60 mph and I think we know why.

Maybe, Reuven, if we had more police in Ballard Mike Turner would not have been able to kill his friends and threaten our community?
